Divided We Fail

When I look at liberal blogs I see something that most conservative blogs lack. What is that you may ask? It is simple really. For the most part, conservative blogs fail to support our local candidates like Jamie Johnson, Jane Jech, and David Kerr just to name a few. We tend to be more focused on the national scene. We tend to more federally focused. Unfortunately that does not work in our favor. This was one of the reasons that we launched the Iowa Defense Alliance. We got tired of our local races getting the shaft.

On a daily basis you will see the liberal blogs promote their candidates. They disseminate the liberal talking points for a day. I am serious, just watch them. Their defense will be disorganized in the morning, but by that evening they will be a coordinated machine spouting the same talking points like a machine. It is kind of creepy when they do that.

I am not saying that Iowa’s conservative bloggers need to sound like braindead robots programmed with one function. What I am saying is that as Republicans we should be supporting candidates from across the state. Just look at the IDA for example. We are actively promoting candidates in districts across the state. We are defending truth and honesty when our candidates are attacked by special interest groups like the Midwest Enterprise Group.

What we need to be seeing is the bloggers like Krusty telling us why we should vote for Mark Brandenburg in District 50. We should have the flyboys telling us why Jamie Johnson would be a better Representative than McKinley Bailey does. But we don’t. I do not mean to belittle these fine blogs. I am just trying to point out the difference that I see between the two sides.

The Iowa conservative blogosphere needs to come together to work for the betterment of Iowa to promote conservative values. Until that happens we are going to be relegated to the backseat here in Iowa.

  1. Yes, local government is the one that impacts us the most. We can also make the most difference in the smaller arena than we can on the national scale.

  2. yup, i’ve noticed that failing too. though I may be a registered republican I don’t claim to be a ‘republican’. i’ve never seen much good come from the party system. it always seems to be an obstruction to grassroots efforts. look at how ronald reagan was treated by the party before he was popular.

i found this blog looking for information on the local candidates. we need to get the word out about this and get some attention so people know where to get information.

  3. We will continue to speak up about candidates with fervor because the Iowa Republican party leaders are like school children, picking their favorites, and leaving the rest high and dry. This is a new day and age in politics. Voters are paying attention and the power and authority of the so called leaders does not hold the weight and swaying power as in past years.

No more being in the “back seat” or worse- not being allowed in the vehicle at all.
