Way to go, Iowa GOP. You mean and rotten group of leaders in the grand OLD party! You have been stabbing a YOUNG and awesome candidate in the back.
In Christopher Reed we have a great man that stands up for what 35,000 Iowans wanted in a candidate. Many of us have expressed in thought, words, money, and deeds our support of a candidate who mirrors our values and beliefs.
I am so disgusted with your mean spirited back stabbing, lack of support for Reed that I can barely type.
As if I need something else to be elevating my blood pressure. But, you have even more of my attention that you already had when I posted “Where are you Iowa GOP?”. Boy do you have it!
Just now on WHO with Steve Deace, Reed had a firm, strong, articulate voice. He is out hitting the road, going it on his own and you STAB HIM IN THE BACK! Reed sees the road America is on to Socialism. He gets it!
My already high opinion of Christopher Reed has just been elevated even more because he brought out into the open what the Iowa Brigade has already been posting about. The GOP leadership is not working FOR him!
Now Iowa voters- where is your outrage, where is your financial support? Not only is Christopher at war with Tom Harkin, now he must battle with the GOP!
On WHO/Deace Christopher Reed said he was being treated like he was running for dog catcher, that the GOP is out putting holes in his bucket. Disgusting.
Not only am I supporting Reed but I am here to put the “Romney Party of Iowa (Deace, a great name for the GOP!) on notice that Iowa Defense has your number. We have Christopher’s back (what is left of it), we are mad as heck, and we ask again… WHERE ARE YOU, IOWA GOP? Is there even a few of you who have a conscious and the guts to work FOR Reed, not AGAINST HIM.

As this post mentions Romney I will say that I believe it was on the O’Reily show that he mentioned that McCain needs to come out and say where he would use Romney in his cabinet. I was thinking oh no he doesn’t! Between the Iowa GOP and the media there is still the push to push off Romney on the same voters that rejected him in the first place.
Way to pour gas on the fire RPI. Now we are more determined to get Christopher Reed elected just to spite you. When are you going to learn that you don’t pick the candidates. WE DO!
Not only am I an angry American, I am one angry Iowa voter.Could hardly believe what I was hearing on Steve Deace this afternoon. Good for Reed to expose such traitors in the so called Iowa leadership of the GOP. You are right Iowans Rock- WE pick the candidates and WE also can send the nonleaders packing.
Have you heard anything from the upstanding leadership of the Iowa GOP? If and when you do, some of us want to know!
With friends like the GOP, who needs enemies?
Listen to you bunch of sniveling whiners. Reed expects RPI to do all his campaign work for him. Hmm..wonder why? Could it be possibly because he’s an utterly clueless candidate with an even more clueless campaign manager?
Christopher Reed for Senate is NOT RPI’s only challenge they have to deal with..if you all hadn’t noticed…We’re trying to win back some State Legislative seats…you know..to stop the Democrats from jacking our state budget through the stratosphere?
Do you idiots think that Chuck Grassley when he ran for Senate the first time whined to RPI about how they weren’t giving him money or support? Grassley went out there and wow..actually CAMPAIGNED for the office!
Reed’s a lazy candidate..who’s now going to piss and moan about how nobody wants to vote for him because RPI didnt “support” him
GU, This isn’t about money. This is about Hunter actively telling Republicans not to support Reed’s campaign. I think you need to do some reading before you go on a rant like that. It makes you look foolish.
GU,
And just for your information. Reed has been out there campaigning. You just won’t hear RPI talking about it. I don’t know if they want him to lose or if they are just that inept. That remains to be seen.
Grow UP… now that you have the name calling out in the open, both of Reed and of those who took the time to leave a comment here, I have to say that you could look to yourself to actually DO some growing up.
Reed is out working by actively campaigning. I am grateful that he did decide to call out the GOP and not let what was being said and done to him be let get by.
It is true that Reed and his supporters did not complain about the RPI’s lack of support until one of them came out and actively campaigned against him. Talk about GROW UP.
Also, it is great that the RPI is focusing on the state races, but I wonder which candidates they are supporting. I hope it is not focusing on gutless wonders like Christopher Rants and instead foucusing on these candidates:
http://iowadefense.wordpress.com/operation-extinction/
Grow up, we are not whining, we are doing something to get these Republicans elected. Are you?
Reed’s campaigning?? Where? Where’s the fundraisers? Where’s the public events? Like myself, Reed’s from Eastern Iowa..yet we haven’t seen hide or hair of him since June. He hasn’t done a lick of fundraising…you would think that GOPers in this state would be eager to give $$ to try to take out Harkin…instead..Reed’s ineptness as a candidate is the sole reason why he’s not getting $$
And Al..get a grip on reality..RPI’s job isnt to do Chris Reed’s campaign work for him. If Reed wants to be considered a credible candidate, instead of whining about how RPI doesnt give him any money or build grassroots support for him..maybe he should be DOING IT HIMSELF!
As stated earlier..RPI has bigger issues to deal with than to worry about a United States Senate candidate who was completely and utterly unprepared to run for office in the first place.
But then again..you “Operation Extinction” fools care only about destroying any Republican candidate, official or activist whom you deem to be “impure”..and in the process..you’re going to be responsible for handing Democrats a veto-proof majority in the Iowa House/Senate and lose more US Congress seats.
When that day comes, I hope you’ll be able to look at yourself in the mirror and try to convince yourself that you’ve been successful in advancing the “cause”.
GU, You must be mentally handicapped or something. This isn’t about RPI not giving Reed money. This is a about a member of RPI leadership actively telling Republicans not to support Reed’s campaign. You got that. Obviously not because you still use your half baked assumption that this is about money.
As for Reed’s fundraisers. I have actually been to a couple of them and if I remember right there are three of them this weekend.
Reed has been out and about campaigning and attempting to raise funds. But what can he do when his own party works AGAINST him.
Oh and GU, as far as Operation Extinction goes. Your only half right. It is about destroying candidates that don’t hold Republican ideals and principles. But the other half is that we are about getting those people elected.
We here on the Iowa Defense Alliance aren’t the Kool-Aid drinkers that you seem to be. We place Country and State ahead of the party. If we have to we will vote third party so that we can have a clear conscience.
I do believe, Grow Up, that you are a lost cause to hear what we are trying to discuss with you.
But for any other open minded readers to this post-
I attended a fund raiser in Waukee for Reed and have heard him speak in Central Iowa and also at an event in Southwest Iowa. He is campaigning. He is out meeting the voters.
The Iowa Brigade has a “grip” and we do more than make inaccurate comments. We work to support candidates that support issues that are important to all Iowans, not just the ones who think they have their facts straight.
Which of you will be the first to apologize to Caleb Hunter?
Or does it not matter to you that Reed now admits the information he was given was completely false?
Hunter was never at a county meeting saying those things, and this whole ordeal was someone’s pathetic attempt at revenge by character assasination.
Al, Crusader..
First off, Reed’s been a completely unprepared, ineffective candidate. Has been since day one. There’s no financial or grassroots support base behind him…two VERY important things any candidate must develop in order to be a credible candidate.. Reed has done neither. Instead, Reed now whines that RPI should be the ones doing this for him. Lets get it straight once again….As a candidate… you RUN YOUR OWN CAMPAIGN…RPI can’t do it for you..
And yes..you all DON’T have a grip on reality. The fact of the matter is, if you all had your way…any Republican who doesn’t pass your litmus tests..must be cast aside…they must be shunned..they must be silenced…they must have no part in the process in our party…
And while you guys are sitting around…casting judgement on who is “pure”..and who is a “pariah”…More and more people look at our Party and walk away in disgust…because they see exclusion..instead of inclusion.
Instead of promoting debate in the arena of ideas in our party…you guys instead promote making those who don’t agree with you on every single point–”extinct”.
Once again..when you all wake up on November 5th..and find the Democrats with a veto-proof Iowa House and Senate…ask yourself how your little “Operation Extinction” is workin for ya?…
AAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Grow UP:
Grow Up.
I will apologize as soon as it is proven that Hunter did not say this. Until then my comments stand.
As for you GU, I think that you are the one that needs to grow up. You support a candidate for the good of the party. We support a candidate for the good of the country and the good of the state. Therein lies the difference. We have convictions whereas you do not.
I cannot in good conscience support a candidate that I think will hurt our country or our state. If you have a problem with that, too bad. I change my values for no one.
A big problem for current politicians is that we do not trust them. Voters think that they are greedy, underhanded, and out for themselves. As someone who was at the GOP State Convention I sure did get the impression that there were games being played as which group of people were supporting which other group of people. I would not put it past any party leader to be underhanded and stir up trouble.
Grow Up,
If we don’t insist upon candidates honoring our party platform, it doesn’t matter if the Democrats take over the House and Senate………..because our party will be just like the Democratic party. HOW’S THAT WORKIN FOR YA? Here, I’ll make it simple for you……..
pro-choice (stem cell research and all) or log cabin Republican who signs for tax increases or big government corporate welfare= Democrat
**shakes head** So..if we don’t agree with EVERY word, every sentence of the Republican Party platform..we’re “Democrats”, Iowans Rock?
Sounds like you want a bunch of robots instead of leaders, Iowans Rock.
If we do not WIN elections..we do not LEAD, ladies and gentleman..its that simple. I have never seen such a case of people willing to cut off their noses to spite their faces..
We are alienating THOUSANDS of people who are sick and tired of seeing people like yourselves tell them they’re not “pure” enough to be in the GOP.
Look at the registration numbers you fools…Democrat and Independent registration numbers have SKYROCKETED…Republican registration numbers have collapsed.
And if we don’t stand on REPUBLICAN principles and values we will lose every time. Do you think that it is a coincidence that the number of Democrats and Independents have skyrocketed. It isn’t because of people like us who want our leaders to stand for something. No, it is because our officials and leaders refuse to take a stand on anything.
Listen we want taxes frozen where they are right now. Lower taxes has been a staple of Republican values and principles. And the leaders we have in the statehouse helped pass a tax increase.
Or how about the US Congress. They have been spending their like drunken sailors. Republicans in Congress have cast aside all effort to maintain fiscal responsibility.
Essentially people are looking at the Republican Party and asking the question why should they vote them in when there is very little difference between them and a Democrat.
It is NOT the case of wanting “pure” candidates/elected officials. We want the GOP to represent the values of those who elect them, not ones who when they get into office become self centered and vote what they think is best not what the voters want.
So, I take exception, GU, to your use of the word pure. And, if voters give up and let things continue to slide we will be even in a worse mess than we find ourselves today.
Harkin and Grassley voted against the wishes of the taxpayers in Iowa when they voted for the porky bail out bill. Christopher Reed is young but can and will learn to be a great Senator. Best of all, he will work to truly represent the will of the voters.
The Republican Party in Iowa is in a weakened state of affairs and their lack of support for Reed is just another sign that there is much work to do to return to being the party that many people have been proud to be a part of- and that’s why we are here and do what we do.
You don’t have to like us, and from your attitude, I can see that won’t happen. You may make your comments and put us down but we will still be working to make things better for citizens of Iowa.
Thank you, abregar. The last candidate to go up against Harkin was Ganske…………one of those Democrats in Republican clothing. He got CREAMED. Let’s try putting a Republican like Reed up against Harkin and see how he does. I agree, people are leaving our party not because of those of us who stand for something, but because of those who fall for anything. They are sick of us saying one thing and doing another. People are not usually turned off by a party’s stances, but instead when the party doesn’t pull through on their promises. I have heard many times………..”I may not agree with all of his stances, but I believe him and I trust him”. Those are the people who get elected.
After reading these comments, I can see why the Republican party is destroying itself. I am one of those independents who does not drink the kool-aid from either party. I know all about Harkin, but I still have to get up to snuff on Christopher Reed. The two candidates that I am familiar with, however, are the presidential candidates. Here is my independent 2 cents worth: Barack Obama is a liberal Democrat and John McCain is a moderate Republican. Obama scares the hell out of me and I disagree with a lot of his ultra-liberal stances, but I know exactly where he stands and the only way he can move is to the center (whew!). On the other hand, McCain is like a game of Russian Roulette. He says he backs the conservative stances of decreased spending, smaller government, pro-life and pro-family issues. However, his record shows much different stances including the latest with signing the bailout bill. Which way will he move while in office? To the left or to the right? I really don’t know and that is even more scary sometimes. I would rather see a candidate stand for something that I don’t agree with and not back down rather than a candidate who says he stands for something that I agree with and not follow through.
