MSNBC, Worst Person in the World and more

MSNBC really needs to pay viewers to watch their temper tantrums, vicious agenda, and flippant comments. I would not make much money as a viewer as I try to stay away from paying any attention to them- but tonight I had some weak moments and a lapse in judgment so will fill you in on the gory details.

I was watching as Mike Barnicle was filling in for Chris Mathews, naively thinking Mike B. would be a refreshing change. Wrong. Mike had two pundit types on the show for their take of the political news of the day. When Mike spoke of information from a news outlet source he said it was better than from “nit-wit bloggers that sit at their computers all day.”

Now I am somewhat of a blogger but I will not take on the title of a ‘nit-wit’. (I had to look it up: silly or stupid person”). Nor do I sit at my computer all day. And aside from the demeaning comment by Barnicle- who is MSNBC to name call and why is their opinion and those of their paid pundits any more or less important than nit-wit like bloggers who express their views via modern technology?

Onto the “worst person in the world”. Keith Olberman has such a title for people and he gives out his version of an award with a great amount of glee. I find his idea of recognition disgusting. I won’t be tuning in any time soon. There must be enough other viewers to keep this program on the air, but I don’t want to be one of them. The continual negative and mean coverage of President Bush, the GOP, and conservative views is just too much. The vile and slanted reporting of many on MSNBC does not need rewarded with my time and emotional energy.

When I ponder ways to improve America today, I think we need a change in how the media relates the news. There must be a more unbiased way to report. More ethics classes for media type students to study and absorb. Something! The path we are taking for communicating the news is becoming the worst.

In my opinion the Iowa Caucus coverage by the local media was mostly unbiased. The stations I watched reported what was happening- no name calling, no nasty awards. The national news media could learn a lot from Iowa reporters. The national news media could learn a lot from Iowa voters. Most of us like a kinder and fairer mode of sharing the news.

I’m leaving the computer now to other nit-wit bloggers. Keep up the good job- if I could give an award it would be for “Capable Interested Citizen”. Thanks for the thought, time and effort you give to promote your beliefs and the candidates you chose to support!

  1. Just an update on Olberman…. he continues to be the Worst Person to have his own news show on cable TV.

I am wondering what he will do if the Democrats get in to office? Who will he bash about then?

It takes nerves of steel to watch the KO show for long. But when I am up to the task I am reminded how mean he is and thankfully I can hit the OFF button.
